Winds hold Northern Adventure in Port

The strong winds of Thursday have wreaked a bit of havoc on the schedule of the Northern Adventure, BC Ferries has issued a notice advising that the 2:30 sailing of the vessel to Haida Gwaii has been delayed at least until later this afternoon/evening dependant on weather conditions.

The vessel currently is holding at Prince Rupert, it will depart once the weather conditions improve.

The latest weather update from The Weather Network advises that a wind warning is in effect for the North coast and offshore regions, with an easing of the winds expected by late afternoon or this evening.

A low pressure centre situated over the Alaska Panhandle continues to spread strong southeast winds up to 90 km/h will over the Queen Charlottes and portions of the north coast. The winds will shift to a southwesterly direction and ease early this afternoon as low pressure centre moves north.

The next update from BC Ferries is scheduled for 4 pm, at which time a revised sailing plan for the vessel will be released.
