The latest update from the BC Ferries Service Notice for 9:45 PM Saturday, January 16, 2010

With Saturday bringing wind to the coastal areas of the North Coast and Northern Vancouver Island, BC Ferries has held the Northern Adventure in port at Port Hardy until the conditions along the coast improve.

The 6 pm sailing was held back and as of 11:30 the vessel was still in port awaiting better sailing conditions along the Inside Passage. The original arrival time for Prince Rupert was to be 4 pm, but this will obviously now change with the delayed sailing.

The delay may continue through the overnight period, a wind warning issued by Environment Canada calls for a strong frontal system to continue over the area tonight , bringing Southeasterly winds of 80 to 100 km/h, the winds are not expected to ease until Sunday morning.
