It's been on the back burner for a bit now, but suddenly the plan to bring electricity to the Highway 37 North corridor is back in the headlines.
Premier Gordon Campbell appearing on a Prince George talk show this week, once again used the example of his private-public partnerships as the best way to get the electrification project on the boards.
At one time the project seemed to be a sure thing and has always been touted as a key ingredient of development in the Northwest. The province found a willing partner in the Galore Creek mining projects of the Northwest, but the plans suffered a minor setback when Galore Creek chose to take a pause in the plans, since that time there has been little in the way of progress or discussion on the power grid development.
At least until this week, when it suddenly came up for discussion and perhaps a revised plan is in the cards in the not too distant future.
