Sir Elton rules his domain in Prince George

.
.
He was by far the biggest name to make a concert appearance in Prince George in recent memory if ever, and if the reactions of those fans who took in the two and a half hour performance of the legendary Elton John Friday night are any indication, it was one of those moments to lock away in their memory banks for a long, long time.

Sir Elton conquered Prince George with a hit flavoured review of a long lasting career, one steeped in much of the soundtrack of their times for those that grabbed every one of the CN centres seats.

A fair number of Prince Rupert residents attempted to get those hard to find tickets, a few succeeded while others will have to content themselves with the stories of Friday's rock around the musical clock.

The Prince George media has been revelling in the show's outcome and Sir Elton's kind words for their community, comforting it would seem after a wee bit of controversy arose from the chattering DJ's of Vancouver's Rock 101 who made much sport of Prince George in the days leading up to last weeks show, an effort that wasn't all that well received by civic and provincial representatives.

However, it would appear that the Friday night festival of hit after hit after hit, has provided Prince George with enough good karma to put those Vancouver types out of their minds for a while.

The success of the Elton John concert in such an intimate setting as CN Place compared to the larger venues of his touring days, has many hoping for other artists to circle Prince George on their tour itineraries for future stops.

Bryan Adams will be the next of names to drop in for a visit, his tour arrives in mid August as he heads towards the PNE and headline status at the annual summer exhibition in Vancouver.

As for Friday's show, a fair number of Prince Rupert residents attempted to get those hard to find tickets, a few succeeded and have come home with some rave reviews, while others will have to content themselves with the stories of Friday's rock around the musical clock.
