Charges laid in sixth avenue slashing

The Prince Rupert RCMP  has released a press advisory which outlines that the local detachment investigators have recommended charges in  a June 24th incident at Tatlow and Sixth Avenue West which saw a twenty year old Rupertite slashed on the neck.

The thirty year old accused is currently in custody at Prince George Detention and will face his next court date on August 9th.

RCMP  revised their original charges after further investigation and now are recommending charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and two counts of breach of an undertaking.

After further investigation by Prince Rupert RCMP into the incident that occurred on the 300 block of 6th Avenue West on June 24th, 2010, the RCMP has changed its charge recommendation from one count of aggravated assault and one count of assault with a weapon to one count of attempted murder, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose and two counts of breach of an undertaking.

The 20 year-old victim sustained a laceration to his neck that required several stitches. The 31-year-old male is currently being held in custody in Prince George, BC. He will make his next scheduled court appearance on August 9th, 2010.
