Wantage Road Garbage problems get second look from council

The long simmering garbage issue of Wantage road has apparently been given another look by Prince Rupert city council.

The TV 7 website has details on what plans the city is mulling over in order to combat the increasing amount of illegal dumping along the road that runs parallel to Hays Creek past the golf course.

Included in the plans is the possibility of re-opening the dump on Sundays to allow local residents to take their trash to the civic landfill rather than just tossing it out along the roadside.

The City of Prince Rupert is talking trash...more specifically... they are talking about garbage and the illegal dumping of it.

City official have decided that it's time to crack down...or at least...curb the illegal dumping of garbage along Wantage Road, which runs on the outskirts of the city.

The city has opted for a multi-tiered approach to addressing this messy problem. They are currently looking into new signs to remind people that dumping garbage along any road is illegal.

Steeper fines for those who don't abide by the rules, and extended hours for those who might have trouble making the current ones. City officials are looking into opening the landfill on Sundays in an effort to remove any possible excuse for such actions.
