Prince Rupert RCMP and fire officials are investigaging the latest in a series of suspicious fires.

Early Saturday morning at around 2:15, several individuals were reportedly trying to torch the Kin Hut building near the skate park.

The fire was extinguished quickly, and the culprits fled before police arrived.

Gasoline was used to start the fire on the outside of the building, but fortunately the fire department was there quickly and damage to the interior was minimal.

Police say a series of suspicious fires in recent months has caused extensive property damage, and they're worried someone is going to get hurt or killed.

The public is being asked to help find whoever is responsible.
