Colin James at the Underground

The bar once known as Bogey’s, now christened the Underground, seems to be trying to become the big name entertainment venue in town. Perhaps it has something to do with the recent purchase of the Coast Hotel by the same folks that our bringing us our new Gaming Centre which may resemble this project in Kelowna.

A few weeks ago it was iconic Canadian rockers Trooper who passed through town, this weekend its Colin James traveling without the services of his Little Big Band 3, which will make the trek north on December 7th and 8th, for a two night stand at the nightclub in the bowels of the Coast Hotel.

For the Rupert shows James is teamed up with Craig Northey on the northern BC leg of the tour. They make a combination that has been writing together and jamming at shows for a number of years now.

Tickets are going for 40 dollars a pop to see the lad who might be best remembered for the big late eighties hits Just Came Back, Voodoo thing and Five Long Years to name a few.

The Rupert stops come at the beginning of what looks like a rather ambitious cross Canada tour for James, who will come to town from a couple of nights at the Prince George Treasure Island Casino and then will head for Southern BC after the second Rupert show on the 8th.

Once our very own entertainment Mecca for the north coast is finished, we wonder if it will herald the start of a greater amount of live entertainment travelling west of Prince George. While we ponder the possibilities of ending up on the A (or at least the B+) list of small town shows, we’ll watch with interest the size of the crowds to head down under the Coast for the James show.

For now we can check out his website here, which features a wealth of information about his tour, his biography and h is discography to name a few of the items on it.

Here's a link to the story on the upcoming shows from thenorthernview.com

And to get you in the mood for some of his tunes, there are a couple of selections to give a listen to from the YouTube portal.
