Bar Crowd troubles continue

The ringing in of the New Year had an old refrain in the downtown area on New Years Eve, as Prince Rupert RCMP responded to yet another bar crowd related incident.

The Northern View has the details on an early morning fight which resulted in serious injuries to a 32 year old local man and the quest for the other party involved.

The injured male is facing reconstructive surgery in Prince George and may face losing the sight in one of his eyes after the beating sometime between the hours of three and four thirty. His attacker was not known to him and Prince Rupert RCMP are continuing their investigation with a request for information from the public.

The New Years Eve trouble is just the latest in string of violent outbursts related to the area of the downtown area surrounding the city's major drinking establishments.

Prince Rupert RCMP are investigating an aggravated assault which occurred during the early morning hours of January 1. Sometime between three a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on January 1, the 32 year old male victim was assaulted by an unknown male outside the Commercial Pub.

The victim was struck by punches several times in the face and sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. He was to be transported to Prince George for reconstructive surgery and feared losing vision in his eye.

Police are seeking witnesses to this assault.
