Time running out for skiing fans of the Northwest

While we receive one last blast of winter like weather on the north coast, local skiers hoping to get in a few more runs before spring will find that the clock is ticking.

Shames Mountain has announced that the Northwest's ski hill will be closing for the season on March 14th, a low snow pack this winter and lower than expected visits to the ski hill provided the background for the decision.

Shames will be open everyday this week during the spring break, with hours of operation from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Once the 14th comes along, locals looking to hit the slopes will have to make the four hour trek to Smithers, Hudson Bay Mountain has April 11th listed as their final day of the season.
