The fallout from the House of Commons debate on oil tanker traffic, another boost to Prince Rupert tax rate and Canpotex pops up on the news rotation again, some of the items of note from our Tuesday news review.

MP, Enbridge comment on passing of tanker ban motion-- With the House of Commons opposition parties calling for a ban on oil tankers on the North coast by way of motion in Parliament, some some comment from both sides of the debate (see article here)

City of Prince Rupert proposes increase to waste disposal fee -- At a special meeting of City council on Monday, council proposed a five per cent across the board increase in solid waste disposal fees, adding fifteen dollars onto the annual tax rates of city residents (see article here)

New Aboriginal Partnership Agreement signed in Rupert-- The second Aboriginal Partnership Agreement was made official on November 30th with a signing ceremony in Prince Rupert (see article here)

Kitkatla puts an end to Oona River blockade -- Some background on the end of the blockade of the Oona River barge ramp, the Kitkatla band ended their blockade of the ramp last Thursday (see article here)

Completion rate well below BC average -- Statistics released by the Provincial Government last week show that Prince Rupert is far behind the rest of the province when it comes to high school completion rates. Prince Rupert at 57.7 percent is far off the pace of the province with its average rate of completion of 79.9 per cent (see article here)

Regional District hires a new Chief Administrative Officer-- The replacement for the departed John Farrell has been announced by Regional District, as they announce that Joan Merrick will take up the post on January 15 (see article here)

Wanted by Police-- Prince Rupert RCMP issue a request for assistance from the public in finding the whereabouts of Lorne Robert Johnson, who is wanted for assault (see article here)

Plans set to stabilize McBride Street slope -- Plans are being developed to stabilize an area in the 400 block of McBride damaged in October's Thanksgiving weekend windstorm (see article here)
