Happy Canada Day

Take some time on Sunday to give pause to the country that you call home. Considering the turmoil in the world these days, there is probably no better place to hang your hat than this vast tract of land above that 49th parallel.

We celebrate 140 years of nationhood on Sunday, with community picnics, concerts and of course fireworks. Whether the really big shows of Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver or the more subtle affairs of communities like ours, Canadians will take the day to kick back and relax and give a few thanks for the land they call home.

New Canadians will take their oath across the land as well on Canada Day, no easy task considering the amount of study that must go into their Citizenship test.

The fact that those that were born here have a few problems handling the citizenship quiz themselves, (some 60 percent would get a failing grade) gives you an idea about the dedication that those that have just arrived put into their quest for citizenship.

The Dominion Institute has a website dedicated to preserving Canadian institutions and Canadians interest in their nation,we would think that there is no better day to check it out than Canada Day.

Check out the links below, see if you could qualify if you weren't lucky enough to be born here...
