Roger Waters and Van Morrison- Comfortably Numb
Tonight on the Music club we go back to 1990 and a most remarkable concert.
It was on this date back in 90, that Roger Waters presented a live performance of Pink Floyd's The Wall. The setting for the night's magic was none other than the Berlin Wall, a fitting backdrop for the rock spectacular that brought together a wide assortment of rock's stars of the day to present their interpretations of the different musical options from the recording.
The concert was held to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall and was broadcast to world wide audience in addition to those that crowded into Potsdamer Platz, an area that once upon a time was a no man's land between East and West Germany.
As with any such ambitious project, there were criticisms of some of the approaches to the concert, as well as some of the performances, but one show stopper faced no such derision.
Our selectin tonight is the duet with Roger Waters and Van Morrison (with members of The Band as back up singers), a performance that is considered one of the highlights of the concert, an 8 minute escape into the lyrics and imagery of one of Pink Floyds most recoginzed songs.
