Blitzed in Space?

Apparently there is no .08 limit when it comes to flying into space.

MSNBC has a story on its website about two separate occasions when NASA reportedly sent astronauts into space who had been drinking heavily less than twelve hours before launch.

It makes for a worrisome thought, considering the already inherent danger of space travel.

NASA isn't commenting on the story, which probably is to be expected. Considering the always controversial nature of the space program and the shuttle launches. The reports of inebriated astronauts is in the form of anecdotal evidence as opposed to blood tests.

And short of any medical evidence it would be hard to prove the claims. One thing is certain, those field sobriety tests are out, it's pretty hard to have someone touch their nose and walk a straight line in zero gravity.
