It's not whether you play the game, but how often you win or lose!

Congratulations (we uhm, think) to the Philadelphia Phillies, who have got to be one of the world's most unfortunate sports team.

The Phillies set a new benchmark for losing on Sunday and did it in convincing style with a 10-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, with the loss Philadelphia notched their 10,000 loss since they first pulled on a jersey, back when they took on the Providence Grays back in 1883.

Not all games have been unhappy affairs and losing efforts, the Phillies have won a few National League championships in their days and even the 1980 World Series, but if you were to look at Vegas betting line, the smart money apparently goes with a loss.

10,000 and counting for the Phillies, it's a challenge for teams in the other major sports to take a run at, though considering the amount of games in a baseball season, which work out to twice as many as hockey and baseball teams play and almost ten times that of football. With that kind of a head start, the Phillies probably have the title for life.
