The long and winding road to North Pacific is going to get a bit of revitalization as Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon announced a 200,000 dollar upgrade in the six kilometre stretch of highway between Port Edward and the North Pacific Historic Fishing Village.
The road is officially known as 599R, but probably is better known as the Cannery road. It has long been a rather challenging bit of blacktop, featuring a few interesting dips and turns which would give some of the better amusement parks of the continent a run for their money in the wow factor.
The announcement will be a welcome one for the many tour operators, out of town visitors and local drivers who regularly take a trek out to the Fishing village for a day trip or to take in one of the many events that are scheduled there in the summer time.
