It's looking like a Helly Hansen kind of day or two!


Well this will give the cruise ship visitors something to tell the folks at home. Environment Canada has issued a rainfall advisory warning for the North Coast, that calls for between 100 and 140 millimetres of rain to arrive on the North Coast from Wednesday morning to Thursday afternoon.

The unusually strong spring storm will roll in from the Gulf of Alaska bringing with it a sub tropical wave of precipitation and strong southeasterly winds of 80 kilometres per hour to make the fun that much more enjoyable.

An unusually strong spring storm moving northward into the gulf of Alaska will direct a strong southwesterly flow of subtropical moisture onto the north coast of British Columbia over the next 24 to 48 hours. This will result in heavy rain which will begin Wednesday morning and continue through Thursday afternoon.

Rainfall amounts of 100 to 140 mm are forecast for coastal sections near Prince Rupert while amounts of 50 to 60 mm are forecast for northern portions of the inland sections near Stewart.

Terrace and Kitimat will also see significant rainfall however amounts will likely stay below the warning criteria of 50 mm.Along exposed coastal areas southeasterly winds of up to 80 km/h will accompany the system.
