Busy week for drug investigators in Prince Rupert

Quantities of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, cash and an unregistered firearm have been collected from a number of locations in the city as the RCMP conducted a number of investigations over the last couple of days in the city.

Armed with two search warrants, local members of the RCMP seized the drugs, weapon and money from a downtown business in the 700 block of 2nd Avenue West and from a residence on 8th Avenue West.

Two search warrants in the span of four days have resulted in the Prince Rupert RCMP seizing a quantity of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, cash and unregistered firearms from a business and a residence in Prince Rupert.

On the afternoon of May 14, members of Prince Rupert's North District Drug Section arrested two people in the downtown core for drug related offences, and subsequently executed a warrant at a business in the 700 block of 2nd Avenue West. During the search, officers recovered cocaine, heroin, money and evidence related to drug trafficking.

While the investigation is ongoing, one adult male will be facing charges of possession of heorin and possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, and another adult male will face charges of possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.

Earlier in the week, on May 10, officers from the general duty section executed a search warrant in the 500 block of 8th Avenue West. 10 people, including four children, were found in the home and police discovered 3.5 ounces of cocaine, 1.5 pounds of marijuana, four unregistered firearms and a “significant quantity” of cash.

RCMP note that the investigation is ongoing, with two of the adults in the home expected to be charged, but have indicated that the warrant was largely due to information received from members of the community.
