The City of Terrace posted an advisory on its website to its residents in areas at risk to flooding from the Skeena River on Tuesday. Water levels were increasing along the Skeena with localized flooding reported in low lying areas of the flood plain in the city.
The Terrace Standard was reporting that water was lapping up along Highway 16 on both sides of the city in a number of locations.

TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY crews are investigating reports of water on Hwy16 on both sides of Terrace because of a high-running Skeena River.
The eastern report indicates Skeena River water is lapping up on the westbound lane of the highway approximately 50km east of Terrace while there are reports of water on the highway near the Shames Mountain turnoff west of Terrace and more water approximately 37km west of Terrace.
"The water at Shames seems to be seeping through the CN ballast," says transportation ministry Don Ramsay. That's in reference to the CN track bed that runs parallel to the highway in that area.
Elsewhere, there's water edging up to the road in Dutch Valley from the Kalum River just north of Terrace and water from the Skeena River at Old Remo and New Remo.
The Nisga'a Highway between Gitwinksihlkw and Greenville in the Nass Valley continues to be closed because of water from a rising Nass River.
That section, east of the W.D. McKay Bridge, was raised as part of an expensive reconstruction project several years ago.
"It was raised and was designed to spill water over it, to let water flow over it," said Ramsay. "But there's a difference between an inch of water and two feet."
