Boat accident in the area of the Yacht Club


CFTK is reporting on its website of an accident at the Prince Rupert Yacht Club, an Aluminum fishing vessel flipped upside down while two men were power washing it, when the boat crashed from above and released diesel fuel into the water at the club.
.
The two men working on the boat are safe and the Coast Guard is dealing with the environmental aspect of it all with booms in the area.

Two crew men are lucky to be safe and sound, after an aluminum fishing vessel they were working on , flipped upside down at Prince Rupert's Yacht club this morning.

Two crew men were power washing the Westwind's bottom, when it came crashing down from above.

The smell of spilled diesel is still pungent, and it's sheen can be seen around the Yacht club and as far as Atlin Terminal.

Coast Guard officials are currently working on efforts to recover the vessel, and clean up surrounding waters.


The area has been boomed off.
