And then there's the gas pipeline

CJFW Radio News at 11 reported that the gas pipeline between Terrace and Rupert has ruptured west of Terrace. Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond is quoted by the radio station as saying that there is enough gas in the system to last a couple of days.

There is no advisory on the City website or the PNG website yet, but we assume that as things become more clear that some kind of information will be forthcoming. Unconfirmed reports have it that the rupture took place around the Shames Mountain area, which has seen a number of problems develop with railroad tracks and highway roadbed.

As we saw on Wednesday panic is an easy thing to create, so we suspect that everyone will be showering as long as possible for the next couple of days just to make sure that the natural gas gets used up as soon as possible.
