I just did a count of stories on a couple other local media sites. One of the radio stations had 6 local stories since oct 18, one of the other local web/print news sites had 11 stories which were pretty good. Then I counted the local content at www.thenorthernview.com and found 35 local stories since Oct. 18. That's over 300% more local news than the nearest competitor.
Congratulations to the the editorial team at the Northern View for providing Rupertites fast and current local news.
Interesting accounting of numbers, which shows what the Northern View has done so far in October.
Of course there was that period of time when the Northern View was missing in action during the wind storm situation.
When the residents of the city perhaps needed some kind of account of events and information on what comes next, the View was away from the internet connection for too long a period of time.
While it was a long weekend and Thanksgiving at that, it probably shouldn't have been that hard for someone at the paper to at least relay important details such as the gas situation, city hall numbers to call and such.
So for the sake of balance in your accounts, be sure to consider that mis step.
The Northern View had the opportunity at that time to showcase it's web savvy presence and let the opportunity slide by completely.
For sure missed the boat there. On a positive note though we/they seem to have learned from this spanking. Training on how to update the site is being passed on to a second body so that should/may help.
