Rampage Review Week Four

The Prince Rupert Rampage remain winless on the road (and with a league ruling from last week winless on the season) after a close and hard fought 4-3 loss in Terrace on Saturday night.

The Rampage matched the Terrace River Kings through two periods of play ending the first frame 2-2 and the second period 3-3, however the River Kings scored an early goal in the third and held on for the win in a physical  game at the Terrace Arena in front of a vocal crowd of 700.

The game featured 18 penalties on the night, 11 of them in the second period alone which saw the physical play pick up, as well as a string of fighting related majors at the six minute mark resulting in game misconducts for the River Kings Kyle Leblond and Stephen Lawrence for the Rampage.

Despite the number of power play opportunities on the night, only Prince Rupert managed to capitalize on the man advantage situation scoring in 1 of 4 power play situations, compared to Terrace which went 0 for 6.

Rupert goal scorers on the night included Tom Jackson with the first marker of the game on the power play early in the first period, followed by Rob Miller later in the period to tie the game at 2 a piece.

Brett Stava brought the Rampage even in the second with a goal at the 15:49 mark of the period, scoring what would be the final goal of the game for Prince Rupert.

The River Kings took the lead for good after just 42 seconds of the third and from that point on held the Rampage off the score sheet for the remaining 19 minutes.

Keith Movold gets tagged with the loss making 26 saves on 30 shots on the night, Craig Walsh gains the W  on the stats page for Terrace, turning aside 27 of 30 Rampage shots.

Prince Rupert remains winless on the season so far, after a CIHL ruling last week that resulted in a forfeit of last Saturday's home victory against the River Kings based on the use of uncarded players, the Rampage record now stands at 0 wins, 3 losses.

The Rampage are off until November now, next in action with a home game against the Kitimat Ice Demons on Saturday, November 6th with an 8 pm start at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.

There were two other games on Saturday night and one scheduled for Sunday.

Saturday: Smithers Steelheads 6  Hazelton Wolverines 1
Saturday: Houston Luckies 5 Williams Lake Stampeders 4
Sunday:  Williams Lake Stampeders 6 Houston Luckies 5
