BC Ferries cancels sailing due to weather

The current weather system coming ashore on the North Coast has caused BC Ferries to hold its vessels in port.

Last night BC Ferries cancelled the 11 pm departure of the Northern Adventure, citing severe weather conditions as the reason for the suspension of service.

The 9 am sailing today out of Skidegate was also cancelled as part of  the same service notice.

Environment Canada is forecasting up to 180 millimetres of rain on the north coast by Wednesday evening. Along with the heavy rainfall warning the forecast also calls for winds of 90 to 110 km/h on both Haida Gwaii and the North coast over the next 12  hours.

You can check updates on the forecast from the Environment Canada website, while further updates on the Northern Adventure and other BC Ferries Service Notice items can be found on the BC Ferry website.
