Next she'll enter her car in the two car funeral competition..

It was a bittersweet moment for Grandmother Jenny Brown, a proud second place finisher in the Wimblington Sports Committee cake baking contest.

Brown's efforts were judged to be sufficient enough to claim the number two spot in the big bake off, which should have made her pretty proud, that is until she was told that she was the only competitor in the event.

The bake off debuted this year in what organizers hope will be an annual and hopefully better attended event in the years to come.

As for Grandma Brown; it's not the first time that she's had a near championship performance scuppered by unusual events, as she tells it: "About 11 years ago I entered a show with some fruit scones. I was the only entrant but I came third."

At least she can say she's working her way up the list towards first...
