Dammit Spock, I just don’t want to go!
Well more proof that you can play a character on television and in the movies, but real life well that’s another story.
It would appear that William Shatner wants nothing to do with plans by Richard Branson of Virgin airways, to boldly go where no airline has gone before.
Branson offered Captain Kirk a ticket on the 2008 debut of his space service Virgin Galactic, Despite the chance to once again take the helm of a ship called the VSS Enterprise, Shatner said thanks, but no thanks.
It turns out the guy who has fought the Romulans and Tribbles and has been to Vulcan, is afraid of space. Actually, it’s more that he’s afraid of what he would do in space. Shatner says his two main fears are vomiting in space and suffering a fiery death in a crash to earth.
That is unless Branson makes it worth his while to tempt those dual space fates. Shatner, perhaps trolling for a bit of a payoff for his celebrity, says it’s going to take a lot more than a free ticket to get him into space.
So until, they show him the space money, he’ll be keeping his boots in Hollywood. Until the cash is in the bank, the Shatner space port is closed!
