Shh, nobody tell CN!

The times they are a changin’. Monopoly that cultural icon of North America has decided that the time for an upgrade has come along. After 71 years in circulation the game that taught many a child about capitalism will get a permanent companion on the store shelves called: Monopoly: Here and Now.

It’s a new and modernized version of the classic board game which was released to the public on Friday, on it you will now find that property values more realistically relate to the era of conspicuous consumption,

Times Square takes over for Boardwalk, and with it inflation rears its ugly head, while Boardwalk was considered steep for its time at 400 dollars, you’ll be shelling out significantly more to set up shop on Times Square, asking price a cool 4 million dollars for a piece of exclusive real estate.

Wanna be a Cubbie, you can buy Wrigley Field, evict a President on Pennsylvania Avenue or try your luck on the Streets of Las Vegas.

Your playing tokens get a bit of an upgrade as well as corporate marketing takes over giving you the option of running around the board as a Starbucks coffee cup a Motorola Razor or a pack of McDonald’s French fries to name a few.

Most shocking of all though is you will no longer be able to be a railroad tycoon, instead you can collect airports the new gateway to commerce in the world of board games. Ohare, JFK, Hartsfield-Jackson and LAX are your new engines of capitalism.

Who ever will break the news to CN?
