On Oct. 25, the Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual auction at Chances Gaming Centre and it is hoping that all Ruperites interested in purchasing a gift for a cause will attend.
Last year, the auction raised $17,000 for Chamber-led events including the upcoming All-Candidates Debate and the Jingle Bell Express. The organization is hoping to beat that record this year. The events are planned mainly to promote the business climate in Prince Rupert.
"We ask our members to donate all the donations to be auctioned off and we only hit up our members, but we do invite anybody from the public to come," said Chamber Executive Director Lynne Graham.
The chamber will also host a lunch meeting with B.C. Minister of Small Business and Deregulation Kevin Krueger on Oct. 16.
Krueger is expected to give a speech to local residents about the future of small business in the province. The session will be part of small business month in B.C. The door ticket price for the auction is $35 and includes dinner, a silent auction and a toonie auction (where you have a number of smaller items that auction participants can bid for, using $2 tickets) plus the all-popular live auction.
The big door prize for attendees will be two round-trip flights to Vancouver provided by Hawkair.
Tickets can be purchased through the chamber office at 250-624-2296, or by emailing the chamber at manager@princerupertchamber.ca.
