She can’t sell cockles and Mussels, not so alive, alive so.

There will be a shortage of shellfish for seafood connoisseurs on the north coast for the next little while. DFO issued a red tide warning on June 15th and placed it in effect for the entire coast from the reaches of the North Coast all the way down to Washington State.

Most of the coast has been closed to shellfish harvesting due to the presence of Paralytic Shellfish poisoning, which can’t be destroyed by cooking and can paralyze the respiratory system

The closure affects bivalve shellfish — oysters, mussels, clams and scallops. It's expected to last several weeks. Shrimp and Crab are not affected by the closure and will probably find themselves more in demand as visitors and residents alike look to enjoy the harvest from the seas..
