Must See TV? Apparently NOT!

Who knew it? Connie Chung actually was back on TV, all be it for a mercifully short run, though apparently not short enough to spare those few people that can find MSNBC on their cable boxes, the shrill warblings of her interpretation of a Bob Hope standard. One assumes that the estate of Mr. Hope doesn't hold creative control over his works, for if they did surely the lawyers would be at work today for damages to reputation.

Chung and hubby Maury "who's the Daddy" Pauvich were given a little weekend show of their own for the last six months on the network that never seems to know where it's going. The duo teamed up for Chung's first appearance on TV since her CNN show was cancelled in 2003. She wrapped up her brief six months of MSNBC exposure with a strange little finishing number complete with candles, evening dress, a piano and Maury, who you can see in this YouTube production looking on in either rapture or horror. Just wait until Jon Stewart gets a hold of this tape!

For Chung the slide down the newsgathering pole is almost complete now, from the lofty heights of sharing the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, to the halcyon days of Cable News at CNN to the wilderness of the upper numbers of the cable dial on MSNBC, all that seems to be left is a late night infomercial on the WB and her cycle will be complete. Her final lines of the interpretation claim that "now this show is through, I've bigger things to do", mind you a viewer can't fathom what those might be.

Katie Couric, your future future is calling! And it's not a pretty sight!
