Nominations are now open

The nominations are now open for those wishing to seek office with Prince Rupert City Council as well as for Port Edward's council. School District 52 board seats are also up for grabs again this November with nominations now being taken for election day.

The last time we went to the municipal polls the stage was rather crowded as seventeen candidates put their names forward, all seeking out the six council seats set to be awarded by popular vote on November 15th.

So far the list is short, with Gabe McLean making his usual trek to city hall to file his papers for another try at a city council seat, Mr. McLean has been a regular participant in the democratic process over the last few years.

We have the feeling that with the excited nature of the locals this time around regarding municipal politics, that we may see just as many if not more making a run for office all hoping to have their picture taken around the table and posted here after November 15th..

Over at the more sedate School Board ballot boxes, Bart Kuntz is reported to have put his name forward for re-election to office. With the challenges ahead for the School District it will be interesting to see who else puts their name into nomination.

We'll list the candidates as they declare their intentions on our council and school board tracker found here...
