The Juno nominations came out on Tuesday, that celebration of Canadian music that gathers the musical and political class together for a four day festival of back slapping and networking.
The timely announcements today, came hot on the heels of a story in the Toronto Star two days ago, that highlighted the travels of the Conservative Minister for Heritage Bev Oda, a lady that made her appearance at last years Juno’s count.
The Star has tabulated the amount of money spent on limo rides during the four day festival in Halifax last year, by the time the Minister had exited the limo for the last time, some 5,500 dollars had been spent in the name of culture.
To her credit, Ms. Oda paid back about half of that cost, apparently a tad embarrassed when she was asked a few pointed questions last May, at that time she provided a cheque for 2,226 dollars on May 19th.
While the Minister was rubbing elbows with the elite of Canadian music, she ordered 11 limos in four days, at times having the drivers sit idle waiting for her return and her desire for a change of Halifax scenery. Considering her love of the limo, it sure puts the Conservatives environmental policy into perspective.
Oda can rev up the limo and tool around the streets of Saskatoon this April 1st when the Juno’s are awarded from Saskatchewan’s Credit Union Centre.
