Gung Hoy Fat Choy

The Year of the pig is underway, as the Chinese New Year turns the calendar and promises much uncertainty for the year to come. Across China and throughout the world celebrations were held to usher in the New Year.

The Chinese New Year is celebrated by one fifth of the world’s population and it’s about this time of the year when the rest of us try to divine our animal sign and whether fortune will smile upon us. In a short couple of words, don’t bother!

In fact, if you’re not born under the sign of the Pig, this could be one of those years where we wish to hide under the covers until the cycle plays its way through.

According to Hong Kong feng shui master Raymond Lo This year of the Pig will not be a very peaceful one. We can expect epidemics, disasters and violence in much of the world. Pretty well business as usual we suppose.

Being born in a Pig year is considered rather fortunate for those under the sign, which could explain why China is expecting a run for the maternity wards this year as the Chinese try to gain whatever edge they can in this competitive old world. Pig children can expect help in all they do for the rest of their lives, hence the expected population boom.

While the Pig rules the year, the rest of us will have to make do as best we can. With trepidation we face our fate, lost animals in a yard full of Pigs. Check out where you fit into the barnyard with your traits according to your birth year, and then check this guide to the Year of the Pig to see what the fates hold for you in this Golden Pig year, a year that most say won’t be a boaring one.
