Fundraising for Haiti, a Centennial celebration and putting the final touches on the plans for the ANT, some of the items of note for Thursday's news review.

DOUBLE YOUR MONEY FOR HAITI-- A look at some local fundraising for the earth quake stricken Haitian people as well as a reminder that any money that we donate will be provided with matching funds from the federal government.

It's almost debut time for Prince Rupert's Centennial CD, as we outlined on the blog a few weeks ago Prince Rupert's musical centennial project is set for release on the 23rd, the Daily provides some background on the evening's entertainment.

While the rest of the province's school district's contemplate cut backs and layoffs (see Podunk yesterday)School District 52 is hoping to get through this financial budget period without the need for layoffs. And while they won't know for sure about the financials until the provincial budget his handed down in March, they believe they have positioned themselves well for the next year.

And picking up on the Northern View's review of Chad Cunningham's Chamber of Commerce appearance (as outlined on the blog yesterday), the Daily provides much of the same information on the future plans of the city's telecommunications company.

Basketball and badminton are the featured items of the Thursday sports section.

Prelim Study Report Promising -- CEP Local 298 has received the first report on their exploration of a possible employee buyout of the soon to close Eurocan pulp mill in Kitimat (see article here)

CBC News Northern British Columbia, Daybreak North
More delays in the return of on line content for the Daybreak North website, as the CBC's technical woes appear to be continuing. The CBC has revised their start up date for the new service, advising that the site will launch "shortly".
