Perhaps they were otherwise occupied at Timo Hortono's

One wonders if the folks designated to provide security for public officials in Italy are up to the job these days.

As it would seem that Italian security is apparently in need of some review, this after the second worrisome incident in less than a couple of weeks.

It was only a week or so ago, that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was clocked in the head by a protestor with a statue, apparently untouched by security until the blood was flowing and the teeth popping.

Today, as he was entering Midnight Mass, Pope Benedict was jumped by what was described as a deranged woman, who it seems not only jumped a barrier but managed to elude what we imagine are supposed to be top notch security officials.

Ah, if only there were a man who could take security in hand, someone who knows how take care of the disruptive forces with out need of official assistance, for Mr. Berlusconi and the Pontiff, perhaps a call should be made for Jeanny Canuck, he'll show Italy's security forces just what a security perimeter should look like!
