Walkers for Justice seeking public inquiry into Highway of Tears disappearances

As they continue on their march from Vancouver to Prince Rupert, those participants in the walk for Justice are hoping to raise enough awareness to move the government to action on the numerous cases of missing women along Highway 16.

While the police investigation into the many reported cases of the missing is still a going concern, march organizers and First Nations leaders are now looking for the issue to be addressed by the provincial government.

To that end they have called on Premier Gordon Campbell, to convene a public inquiry into the cases, so the families of those that have gone missing can find justice, closure, equality and Accountability.

The Government has been particularly silent on the matter over the last number of years, relying it seems on the RCMP to carry the bulk of the burden of the investigation into the cases.

The Walk for Justice left Vancouver last week, they anticipate an arrival in Prince Rupert around the 22nd of the month.
