Homicide in the downtown core

The radio stations of the Northwest have been the first to confirm what many had been talking about over the last twelve hours, that of a death in downtown Prince Rupert on Tuesday afternoon. A situation which first raised interest on the local community discussion portal hackingthemainframe.

As more details have come out, the announcement that a forty one year old female was taken into police custody yesterday was released, that as Prince Rupert RCMP investigate the first homicide in the city in over five years.

Police vehicles can still be seen along Third Avenue and Sixth street on Wednesday morning, as investigators continue to examine the scene of the incident in the 600 block of Third Avenue, where a forty two year old male was found deceased.

The woman currently in police custody has been identified as someone who was known to the victim and awaits her first court appearance regarding the incident.

No names have been released pending notification of next of kin, as part of the investigation the body of the deceased has been sent to Vancouver for an autopsy.

The RCMP are currently seeking any other information on the homicide, and anyone with further details of interest are asked to contact the local detachment at 250-624-2136.
