Watching your money!

Want to see if your money travels more than you do? There’s a website out there for you follow your money once it’s left your wallet and gone off to find fame and fortune in someone else’s wallet or purse.

Where’s Willy, is a sister/brother site to Where's George (an American version of the same thing), where World Wide Web citizens pull out their bills and register them on the net. Other fellow travelers in the world of monetary usage then do the same and the paper trail thus begins.

It’s a mindless diversion for many who seem to have built up a cult of Willy or George, combined with bulletin boards and other on line tools all about money. So far British Columbians hold down third place in tracking the bills, closing in on Quebecers but trailing those Central Canadian money grubbers in Ontario.

It obviously takes a certain amount of dedication (not to mention free time) to be involved, you have to dutifully take your bills and record their serial numbers and then provide a bit of information about where the bill was received, its condition and any other info you wish to provide, for instance some folks have apparently written on their bills track me at whereswilly or some such thing. My initial attempt at money tracking, proved to be a bit of a disappointment, my ten dollar bill registered had no historic tale to tell, perhaps as it moves along in days to come it will have more exciting things to share with me.

However, I’m afraid I’ll probably be an infrequent participant in the great monetary tracking project, not through any lack of interest, but more through lack of monetary supply!

Perhaps you more affluent visitors to Podunk can take some time and track your fortune (or the fortune you once had).
