Games of the XX Olympiad: Double, Double

It's rather fitting that Tim Horton's is running commercials during all the Olympic coverage on CBC and TSN, since Thursday saw Canada's athletes double their medal production, with a double double on day six at the Torino Games .

The medal parade began at the speedskating oval when, both the womens and mens long track squads picked up Silver medals at the Torino Games. The women's team on the oval today included Clara Hughes of Winnipeg, Kristina Groves of Ottawa and London, Ont. native Christine Nesbitt. The men sent out Ottawa-born Arne Dankers, Denny Morrison of Fort. St. John, B.C., and Red Deer, Alta. native Steven Elm.

Things moved over to the skeleton track, where Melissa Hollingsworth-Richards on her sled grabbed her share of Olympic glory with a bronze performance.

Then to cap off the avalanche of maple leaf medals, Jeff Buttle had the skate of his short career so far to take the bronze in the figure skating competition.

Canada's four medal assault, moved it up the ladder quite suddenly, bringing our total medal count to eight now! Five medals behind table leading Norway, however we have a ways to go in the gold medal count, the USA is leading that total with six, Canada sits at one so far.
