The Globe and Mail seems to be the first to the post with some inside information on the soon to be Conservative cabinet. Stephen Harper will take his new compatriots to Government House and a rendezvous with the Governor General at 7:30 PST (10:30 in the centre the universe) on Monday morning.
Globe reporters suggest that it will be a much smaller cabinet than we are used to of late and that there will be no deputy leader named. There are apparently five women from across the nation to be named to cabinet and Atlantic Canada will only have three ministers to call their own when all is said and done. BC can expect to have three cabinet ministers for sure and possibly a fourth. For those worried about External affairs falling into the hands of Stockwell Day it would seem your fears were unfounded. Day will have a seat at the cabinet table but at some other portfolio.
And in Quebec where the Conservatives found and unexpected (to some anyways and especially Liberals!) breathrough, there will be four cabinet ministers to fly the federalist flag in the province. While Ontario will call upon former soldiers of the Big Blue Machine to help comfort the nervous nellies of the Metro Toronto region.
The list is here for those wanting to score at home, it's all speculation for now, it will be interesting to see how close the Globe gets to the actual roster by the time the Governor General is finished swearing, uh in.
