From the files of the Prince Rupert Detachment-- May 17, 2010

A week's worth of criminal activity condensed into the weekly crime report from the Prince Rupert RCMP...

During the week of May 10 - May 17, 2010 Prince Rupert RCMP received 179 calls for service.

A traffic member stopped a vehicle on Highway 16 and when the driver’s name was run through the system, there was a request to serve him with a driving prohibition. The notice was served and the passenger that had a valid license took over the driving duties. The member’s spidey sense alerted him that the female may have her duties revoked once they where safely out of Prince Rupert Traffic range. The member contacted the Terrace Traffic Unit who did observe the vehicle and the female was still driving. This was not the case when the vehicle was stopped later that day in Prince George. The male was then charged for driving while prohibited, received his court date and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days. Talk about the long arm of the law.

Prince Rupert RCMP received a tip that a male would be boarding the ferry that night en route to Haida Gwaii with a large amount of marijuana. The male had a history of drug possession and dealing. Prince Rupert members attended the ferry terminal and located the male. He was arrested for possession and taken back to cells after some marijuana was located on him. The officer did a more in-depth search of the male’s backpack and located 50 tablets of ecstasy. The male was then arrested for drug trafficking. Keep the tips coming!

A male carrying a long stick was arrested early Monday morning for mischief. The male had been trying to fish out cheques he could see on the floor of a business with his stick. The male was unsuccessful in catching anything, guess he should switch up his bait.

An 18-year-old was arrested in March for theft and trespass at night. He was released by a judge on a court date. The male did not show up and a warrant was issued. Police arrested him and again he was released on a court date. The male did not show up again and a warrant was issued. He was arrested again and held over night and was released again by a judge with a new court date. The male did not appear again and a warrant was issued. The police arrested him again and he will appear in court on May 17. Fourth times a charm. I don’t think this male would do well in the US where it is three strikes and you’re out.

Members attended a shots fired complaint. The noises were coming from the area around the golf course. Case solved.

A one year ban was opposed on a male after stealing a shirt from one of the mall merchants. The employee was able to retrieve the shirt from the male by asking for it back. Polite is as polite does. A vehicle was stopped after it was doing about 80 km/h downtown. The female was arrested for impaired diving and taken back to the cell area to provide a breath sample. The driver blew 270, which is over three times the legal limit. The driver is already prohibited from driving from the other time she was caught drinking and driving.

Please contact Prince Rupert RCMP at 250-624-2136 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if you have any information on any crime.

ain't nobody can write these accounts the way you do Erin. I see stand-up comedy or a great book in your future. Keep us laughing, or we'll have to cry!

...stick to your day job Erin, your write ups are completely lacking in wit and devoid of any semblance of what most people would consider to be humorous. You are in a word, Super-Lame (hyphenated so technically one word). Good day madam! Or is Erin a male name nowadays, not important I guess.
