More broken windows in the downtown core

Sales of plywood are up and shares in All West Glass must be skyrocketing as Prince Rupert's month of broken windows continues.

Hot on the heels of last weeks crime spree in the downtown area, the weekend past saw yet another business hit by the ongoing problem. Homesteader New and Used is featuring a plywood fronting this Monday, making for matching window fronts with the Subway restaurant next door which has been hit a number of times in recent months.

In what seems to be a regular occurrence now, more and more businesses seem to be feeling the wrath of those with ill intent. One way that they may wish to get the attention of city council to the problem may be to leave those sheets of plywood up for an extended period of time, they'll make a nice little addition to our tourist season.

For added impact, perhaps they should spray paint their own messages on the sheets, something to the effect of "Hey Council, we seem to have a problem here".

The growing scourge of vandalism and theft is giving the downtown area a particularly menacing look these days, something that the Mayor and council may want to take a look into.
