Win a series, loot a footlocker!

From the act like you’ve been there before file, comes disturbing reports out of Montreal of rioting after the Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins in game seven of their first round series.

These kind of things flare up from time to time in pro sports as the yahoo factor kicks in, no doubt fueled by booze and a mentality where civility is no longer a guiding force in the mostly young hooligan’s lives.

This subculture of society hardly represent hockey fans that truly care about the game, instead it highlights a growing undercurrent in society where any gathering can be considered carte blanche to lay waste to public and private property and provide an anarchistic trend to what should have been a pretty special night in Montreal.

Now, instead of celebrating Montreal’s success and march towards the Stanley Cup, Montrealers and those across Canada and around the world will instead see pictures of morons burning police cars, breaking windows and stealing items out of stores.

All of this after just one round of the playoffs, that’s the First round!

Should this kind of stupid behavior be expected for any more rounds to come, the City of Montreal might ask Bob Gainey and Guy Carbonneau to please go ahead and tank the next series and bow out on the road.
