The Queen of Canadian music for 2008 is Feist, the Toronto based singer/songwriter captured five Junos in total over the course of the weekend celebration of Canadian music in Calgary.
She collected three awards on the nationally broadcast show Sunday night and had previously been awarded two of the statues on Saturday, as Calgary became the epicentre of Canadian music culture for the weekend.
From a charity hockey game between rockers and old hockey players to a string of concerts around the city, the Canadian music industry arrived in full force in Calgary to celebrate another year of achievement.
In addition to the celebration of the newest arrivals on the Canadian music scene, there was the traditional nod to the past, with Triumph enshrined into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame on Sunday night. The power trio from Toronto had collected Juno awards on four occasions in the seventies and eighties and were one of Canada's leading musical exports during that era.
Feist picked up awards for three of the top seven categories in Sunday night's broadcast.
The breakdown of the Top Seven went as such:
Album of the year--The Reminder, Feist
Single of the year-- 1 2 3 4, Feist
Pop album of the year--The Reminder, Feist
Group of the year--Blue Rodeo
New group of the year--Wintersleep
Country recording of the year--Risk, Paul Brandt
Juno fan choice award--Michael Bublé
