The whole bunch obviously need a time out!

Cursing and swearing in the dressing room. Physical attacks behind the scenes! Finger pointing, back biting and acerbic comments. Hidden suspensions, demotions and lots of pouting. Members of the team stomping their feet and leaving the room in a fit of anger. The dressing room of the Vancouver Canucks? No, the back room machinations of the BC Liberal Party!

Premier Gordo continues to have problems with this oversized class of 2004, word coming out that the caucus room activities rival the boisterous behavior of a UBC frat house, or your local daycare centre on sugar fix Friday. What they aren't providing is the atmosphere of serious reflection, that is the supposed to be the purpose of the Legislature.

David Shreck on the rabble.ca website, recounts the moves that led to the departure of Elayne Brenzinger earlier this week, sadly for her fifteen minutes of fame, Todd Bertuzzi managed to body check her out of the media spotlight. But Shreck advises that there may be more to follow Ms. Brenzinger out of the caucus room.

Indeed, it already has happened, though only on a temporary basis. The Premier advising that he's suspended several Liberal members from caucus in the past, banishing them from partaking in the governance of the province. Not exactly what the voters probably planned on when they marked their X. They probably would like to think their MLA was working hard on legislation that could affect their livelihoods, rather than simply having a coffee at Starbucks and doing a little shopping, for a couple of weeks.

Like a Vegas pit boss, Campbell advises that what happens in caucus, remains in caucus. The Premier telling us that there are no plans to share details on any of the suspensions, nor name the names. Slowly some of the malcontents are beginning to find their feet, pondering plans to leave the less than festive atmosphere of the caucus room and the Liberal party.

While the NDP continues to get it's political house in order, they run the risk of becoming the third wheel of the Legislature, the two ex-Liberal's who have walked out on the Campbell agenda. Paul Nettleton and Elayne Brenzigner could be trail blazers for the rebel forces. A few more like minded travelers and they could end up the official opposition, with full funding. A delicious irony, no doubt not lost on many of those feeling the heat from coach Campbell in the dressing room.

For your home study purposes here's a little seating chart to follow along with, feel free to colour the players in the hue of your choice. Keep in mind though that like that age old daycare game of musical chairs, as they leave the Campbell bosom they will end up sitting closer and closer to the area currently held by Nettleton, both in political spirit and in physical proximity!
