5 million missing and counting

So if you’re looking for a job, perhaps a career in the wonderful world of e mail retrieval could be for you.

There certainly seems to be a crying need for someone who can properly sort and store official correspondences these days.

The White House, it appears has misplaced some 5 million e mails, an amazing number of correspondences apparently sent to some nether sector of the wired world.

And while we’re sure that in that block of five million messages there is more than one offer of the chance to help a former king recover his fortune from Africa; or a hot stock tip that is just about to explode, there are probably a few important notes that the administration might have wanted to hang on to as well.

One or two brief blasts of wisdom and insight, that might be of use to those looking into some of the more interesting events of the day surrounding the Executive Branch of the American government.

Karl Rove and the folks running the Presidents office, are at a loss to explain how those five million correspondences somehow have been erased from the internets ether.

It seems that the most powerful office in the world is incapable of tracking, archiving and providing if required, important government correspondences.

This in a world where a twelve year old boy or girl can set up separate yahoo accounts, one for spam and one for letters to friends.

The scope of the situation and the less than forthcoming explanations make the jobs of the pundits, satirists and comedians oh so much easier.

It’s said that the White House is working hard on the project in their search of the missing mail, which should be reassuring, that is if we don't remember that we’ve been told that they were looking for things in the past.

And that's been a search that hasn’t always worked out as planned.
