The fruit that could make you ill

Western Canadians are being advised to make note of the origin of their cantaloupe, if they can't be sure of where it came from it's best to ask your local Canada Safeway produce manager. Cantaloupe's sold under the Llano and Nature's Partner brand name have been recalled by Canada Safeway because of a salmonella danger.

The giant Western Canadian Grocery chain issued the recall earlier today over the fruit imported from the USA and distributed in Canada from November 7 to 18. Salmonella is caused by any number of factors and can provide numerous unpleasent side effects (described here) and is particularly nasty for those with reduced immune systems.

Check with your local Safeway to see if they have received the offending fruit and if so check on their recall policy, if you can't remember where you bought it, you'll have to decide if you want your stomach to play runnin' roulette this week.
