Apple is finding itself on the defensive over an upgrade to the Itunes program released on January 10th. Music seekers may have noticed in the last couple of days that when they look up an artist, they are given the option to check out music from some other artists that may be of similar interest. This happens when a feature called the mini-store is activated.
Internet bloggers have been quick to pick up on the new feature and Apples interest in your musical interest. Apple execs for their part say that when the store is closed, no data is transferred and even when data is forwarded nothing is actually done with the information collected, (other than to make some recommendations one assumes). They also claim that the mini store feature is easily hidden or disabled if the Ipod user wishes.
It's not the first time that Apple has found itself questioned by privacy advocates, identifying users and monitoring their content. So while you're listening to some Snoop Dog, somebody at apple may be er, snooping on you.
Listen with care Ipod generation, Big Podder is watching and listening!
