No, were not talking about gals night out at the Surf or Solly’s here, but a real live furry not so little creature supposedly spotted in the Hays Cove area of the city.
The creature was first reported on the local CBC morning program and has now become the thing of legend on the local bulletin board, hackingthemainframe.
The cougar coincidentally was spotted in the same area that the bulletin board reports had some intense police interest over the last few days, with the local traffic unit setting up shop on the corner and nailing the locals for improper stops.
Perhaps the cougar watched the cops, who apparently were so intensely focused on their duties that they did not notice the wild beast mere meters away. Then again, with no revenue to be gained from the Cougar under the motor vehicle act, possibly it was given a free pass to carry on as it wished.
With only one visual report to go on thus far, we’ll await further developments, (perhaps the disappearance of the large feral cat population in my neighbourhood for instance) before we consider whether we’ve become the prey instead of the predators.
However, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that a wayward cat has wandered as far as Podunk, there is a sizeable deer population here, deer dogs as I like to refer to them. An unusual species of deer, they seem to be about as prevalent as household dogs in these parts and like the stray dogs of the town pretty well go wherever the heck they want to.
Last year it was wolf sightings, this time around it’s the cats. All in all it could to be a rough spring for walking the dog, or taking the kids down the Hays Creek Trail.
