As the Prince Rupert Rampage make the trek to Terrace tonight, they are one of two teams which at the moment seem to be heading in different direction.
The Rampage seem to be coming together nicely of late, having won five of their last six games in the CIHL. While tonight's competition the Terrace River Kings, are currently mired in a three game losing skid a noticeable shift in their success from earlier this season.
The net result of those two directions has provided for both teams to be tied atop the CIHL West Division, tonight's game offers up the chance for undisputed claim to the lead in the West and a chance to make their mark heading into the final stretch of the CIHL season.
The Rampage have begun to click on offense, last weeks 17 goal explosion at the expense of the Hazelton Wolverines showcasing the line combinations that have paced much of the winning stretch in the last six weeks.
For Terrace, tonight offers the opportunity to reverse their skid, after getting off to a strong start at the beginning of the season when they jumped out to significant lead in the West, their struggles through the last month and a bit must be raising a few alarm bells in the dressing room. Especially with fears that the season may start to get away from them with Rupert starting to cruise and Kitimat making up much ground in the standings as well over the last month or so.
For the Rampage there is also a bit of unfinished business, early on in the season they had defeated the River Kings at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, but had to surrender the two points due to carding issues with the league. Tonight provides them with the opportunity to once again claim a victory from Terrace and this time have it count in the standings.
Game time tonight in Terrace is at 8:00, a night of hockey which should be both entertaining and hard hitting as the two teams seek to claim bragging rights in the Northwest as well as in the Western division of the league itself.
